With the rapid growth of IT industry, the demand of computer professionals is increasing day by day. This increasing growth of IT industry has created a lot of opportunities for the computer graduates. Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), is a 4 years degree honours course, is one of the popular course among the students who want to make their career in the IT industry. Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT), a member institution under Techno India Group, offers BCA Honours since year 2000. With the rapid growth of IT industry, the demand of computer professionals is increasing day by day. This increasing growth of IT industry has created a lot of opportunities for the computer graduates. Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), is a 4 years degree honours course, is one of the popular course among the students who want to make their career in the IT industry.

Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT), a member institution under Techno India Group, offers BCA Honours since year 2000. This course is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT, formerly known as WBUT).

Sports Facilities Excellent indoor and outdoor facilities are available on campus for organizing regular games and sports.	Computer Labs BCA department has latest technology based Computer Laboratories which includes good computing facilities in accordance with University syllabus as well as industry needs.	Well Stocked Library The Well Stocked Book Library is present on campus. Apart from text and reference books, books on new emerging technologies are also available in library.
Seminar Hall Seminar Hall with 200 seating capacity is present on campus for organizing seminars, workshops and events. Seminar Hall is well equipped with an audio visual facility.	Multi Gym Facilities Multi Gym facilities are available on campus for students.	Smart Class Room Smart Class Room is available in the department.

Eligibility Criteria for BCA
As per the guidelines of MAKAUT, all students who have qualified Class XII (Science/Commerce/Arts) are eligible to take admission in BCA.

Hands-on Learning program for BCA 3rd Year students Date: 14.09.2025 The Department of BCA, Siliguri Institute of Technology, is organizing a Workshop on PHP – a deep dive into one of the most widely used Server-Side Programming Languages. Speaker: Mr Sourav Ghosh, Software Developer at Appycodes Venue: BCA Department, SIT This was the chance to sharpen the coding skills and gain real-world insights into PHP programming.
Exploring the Power of AI in Digital Marketing Date: 12.09.2025 TECHNOGLEAM Siliguri conducted an in-depth workshop at Techno India Siliguri Institute of Technology, where 135+ enthusiastic BCA students from 2nd and 3rd year unlocked the secrets of "How Artificial Intelligence is Revolutionizing Digital Marketing Strategies Worldwide". The session featured: Real-world use cases Live demonstrations Future-ready tools An enriching experiance that blended knowledge with practical insights, empowering our students to be Innovative-driven, Future-raedy and Career-focused. The Founder of TECHNOGLEAM Mr. Jyotirmay Paul, who was an SIT Alumnus (MCA) shared his thought about the Enterpreneurship as well. At Siliguri Institute of Technology we believe in shaping the young minds of tomorrow by connecting them with the latest Technologies and Industry trends.
Knowledge Knockout Season-2 Date: 05.09.2025 Over 2600 participants, 60+ schools, and 21 cities came together for an unforgettable intellectual showdown! Hosted by the renowned quiz master Surya Narayanan, the finale was packed with energy, excitement, and brilliance Champion – Debaditya Sarkar (Vivekananda Vidyapith, Coochbehar) 1^st Runner-Up – Aahel Anurag (Techno India Group Public School, Alipurduar) 2^nd Runner-Up – Debarshi Ghatak (Netaji High School, Siliguri) Huge congratulations to all the winners and participants for making Knowledge Knockout Season 2 a landmark success!
EXQUIZIT, 2025 Date: 25.04.2025 Time, Venue: 1:00pm onwards ,SIT Campus Objectives of the Event: To assess and enhance participants' knowledge and understanding of specific technical concepts. To improve critical thinking and problem-solving skills. To learn and reinforce technical topics. Target Audience: BCA,MCA, BTECH (CSE/ IT/ AIML), BSc. Cyber Security and BSc. Computer Science Students Total No. Participates – 72
Academic Excellence Award Ceremony organized in every semester for our BCA department top students obtain highest marks in university exams and possess highest attendance in class.
BCA department organized a one day workshop on Stress Management and Essential Life Skills to aware the students about stress management in their daily life.
EXQUIZIT is a technical quiz competition organized by the BCA department for students to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
Bureau of Indian Standards orientation program for youth to youth connection.
BCA students participated and conducted a Cultural Event on the occasion of Silver Jubilee year celebration by Siliguri Institute of Technology.
Bhasathon 2023 is a Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav according to guideline of UGC, organized by BCA students to promote regional languages i.e. BHASHAYE ANKE, BHAV EK.

Training & Placements
College organizes Technical Training Programs by Industry Experts for every student to upgrade their technical skills. This training helps the students to do their Minor and Major Project respectively. Department arranges various Workshops/ Seminars on recent technologies to make them self-reliant. Soft skills development and Aptitude ability Test (Tips and Tricks) classes are conducted by T&P Cell semester wise. The Training and Placement Cell (T&P Cell) arranges several Campus-Recruitment Drives, through which students are placed in different IT companies like TCS, INFOSYS, WIPRO, FLEAPO, L&T INFOTECH, CIBNITS, AMAZON, CTS and many more. As BCA is a 4 years Honours degree course, students are also eligible for various Government jobs like UPSC, WBCS, Banking Industry, Railway, Post Office, FCI and others. Last but not the least there is a good chance to join into Teaching Profession and Research Activities as well after MCA. Moreover not only depending on jobs, students may start their own initiative. Department arranges various training program on recent technologies to make them self-reliant. SIT has a dedicated Entrepreneurship Cell that nourishes the entrepreneurship ability among students.
