Mou with Kirori Mal College

An MoU was signed on 20.01.2026 between Kirori Mal College and Siliguri Institute of Technology. Kirori Mal College is ranked 4th in India as per the NIRF rankings, while Siliguri Institute of Technology is one of the leading institutions in the North-Eastern region of India. This MoU between two reputed academic institutions will enhance the academic environment, which will further strengthen collaboration in teaching, research, and institutional development.

National NAAC Workshop

A two-day National NAAC Workshop is being conducted at Siliguri Institute of Technology, organised by the IQAC Cell, Siliguri Institute of Technology, on 19–20 January 2026.

The main theme of the programme is to strengthen institutional understanding of the NAAC framework and to smoothly align academic and administrative processes with the new Binary Accreditation System, ensuring quality enhancement and continuous institutional excellence.

The workshop is being enriched by the presence of eminent resource persons Prof. Anshu and Prof. Pushpender Kumar, Professors, Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, who are sharing their expertise, best practices, and practical insights on NAAC accreditation and quality assurance.

External Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA)

IQAC of Siliguri Institute of Technology organised a two-day External Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) on 07–08 January 2026. The audit was conducted by Dr. Samirendra Nath Dhar and Dr. G. Das, along with the two Principals-in-Charge, the IQAC Coordinator, and the Coordinator of Professional Studies.

The audit provided valuable suggestions for quality enhancement, which were discussed and will be implemented. Sincere thanks to all departments, faculty, staff, assessors, and the IQAC team of SIT.

Innovative Teaching–Learning Practices under OBE & NEP 2020

IQAC, Siliguri Institute of Technology organized a Five-Day Staff Development Program on “Innovative Teaching–Learning Practices under OBE & NEP 2020” at the SIT Campus.

The sessions, led by distinguished resource persons from the University of North Bengal, MAKAUT, and Siliguri B.Ed College, focused on outcome-based education, NEP 2020 implementation, and effective classroom practices, offering participants valuable academic and administrative insights.

The program reaffirmed SIT’s commitment to continuous quality enhancement and to nurturing a more engaging, student-centric learning environment.

Workshop on Industry-Academia Partnership 

Date: 08.09.2025

A workshop on Industry–Academia Partnership was successfully conducted by PCS Global in collaboration with Siliguri Institute of Technology at the J. C. Bose Seminar Hall.

The session highlighted the importance of bridging academic learning with industry needs, with engaging discussions on real-world applications of IoT (Internet of Things) React Framework and Data Analytics.

PCS Global also shared valuable information on internship opportunities and placement prospects, providing students with a clear pathway to connect classroom knowledge with career growth.

The IQAC Cell of Siliguri Institute of Technology coordinated a meeting today between the representatives of PCS Global and the Heads of different departments of SIT.
 
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss Internship opportunities and Placement opportunities to be provided by PCS Global for SIT students.

Meeting with IEEE WIE Founder Chair and ComSoc Chair

A meeting with IEEE Chair, ITI Saha Misra has been held on 28.06.23, at the conference room, Siliguri Institute Technology, Siliguri. The meeting has been chaired by Dr. Mithun Chakraborty, Principal, Siliguri Institute of Technology, Siliguri. The discussion revolved around several important topics related to raising awareness about IEEE and its initiatives in presence of the faculty members of various department and IQAC Coordinator Dr. Debajyoti Misra.

One of the key points discussed was how students can join IEEE membership and the benefits they can avail through it. We also delved into the process of establishing an IEEE Student branch and the resources available to support its growth and development. Another significant aspect of the conversation was the remarkable opportunities that students can explore through SIGHT (Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology) technology of IEEE, which empowers them to address societal challenges through technological solutions. Moreover, the discussion touched upon the significant role of IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) and how students can apply for student and Dr. Sumit Misra showcased the importance of building an industry-academic bridge. Overall, the meeting was extremely enlightening, providing valuable insights into the various dimensions of IEEE and its wide range of opportunities for students and professionals alike.
